Most work arises from the imagination, with an occasional addition from observation. Besides a strong thematic bond (man, people and environment), a continuous research of materials takes place. Combinations of materials and techniques are subordinated to the theme. This material research has led to quite unique processes, such as charcoal printing with gombatik. The structure of the substrate largely determines the final result.
It has been said that François Lodewijckx was an interpreter of a dream world in which humans and animals take center stage. He shows great versatility in technique with a very thoughtful and sensitive use of color.
